These web pages are here to celebrate the flute and old instrument with one of the largest libraries of music of any instrument. We are here to promote the flute as a solo instrument and ensemble instrument. In our society today the guitar is the main musical instrument of our time. But during the Baroque period of music the flute was one of the most important instruments. It is a wonder how things change and styles change. But we want to say the flute is as important an instrument of any and we hope you will be a friend of the flute and join us in its life and celebrate it with us.

She plays two pieces. The first piece she wrote which is called a Gypsy Dance. And the second piece is The Great Train Race which is a piece about the different effects and sounds a flute can make. Personally I love the pure tone of the flute no need to change it for me. The piece was composed by Ian Clarke, I believe a great piece for teaching the different techniques of flute playing. I voted her Gypsy Dance the best of the two pieces. Elise Carter Performance

The next piece on the program was a trio by Faure (1924) by

GROUP: Greg Henry Waters New Music Ensembles

The next fun piece on the program with

Connie Grossman on Flute and Enrique Orengo, Cello.

They performed the Heitor Villa-Lobos piece Assobio A Jato (The Jet Whistle) in three movements. I really enjoyed this composition with the combination of the cello and flute. It demostrates why the flute is such a great instrument for the blending of the sounds and Connie blew all the Whistles that can be blown. Not to say the difficulty of the cello part, Enrique did it all too. Both outstandting musicians with a difficult modern piece. Lobos, The Jet Whistle
